Big Berkey adds Phoenix filters, cuts entry price to $267

BigBerkeyWaterFilters.com has started selling Big Berkey and Royal Berkey gravity systems with Phoenix filter elements, a newer NSF listed option that costs $100 less than Black Berkey versions. The move gives Berkey buyers a lower-cost choice with faster flow, while old-stock Black Berkey models remain available for now.

Why it matters: - Big Berkey buyers now have a lower-priced option for the company’s best-known gravity filters. - The Phoenix-equipped systems are priced $100 below comparable Black Berkey editions. - The update could broaden access for households looking for Berkey’s stainless steel systems without paying the top-end price.

What happened: - BigBerkeyWaterFilters.com launched the Big Berkey and Royal Berkey with Berkey Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition filter elements. - The Big Berkey with two Phoenix elements costs $267. - The Royal Berkey with two Phoenix elements costs $308. - The new pricing is available through the largest authorized Berkey dealer in the United States. - The company said the systems went on sale today.

The details: - The stainless steel hardware has not changed. - Both systems still use polished 304 stainless steel chambers, lids and spigots. - Phoenix elements were made for New Millennium Concepts, the maker of Berkey. - Phoenix elements were introduced in late 2025 as the replacement for Black Berkey elements. - Berkey systems with Phoenix elements are NSF listed for NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372. - Independent labs tested Phoenix elements against more than 200 contaminants found in treated municipal and well water. - The tested contaminants included PFAS, lead, chlorine, chloramine, VOCs, pesticides and pharmaceuticals. - Phoenix elements filter faster than Black Berkey elements. - A pair of Phoenix elements is rated for 5,500 gallons. - The company says that works out to about 3 to 5 years for a typical household. - Both systems are available with 2 or 4 Phoenix elements. - The 4-element Big Berkey costs $387. - The 4-element Royal Berkey costs $428. - Those 4-element versions are positioned as the fastest-flow models. - Big Berkey and Royal Berkey models with Black Berkey elements remain available while supplies last. - The Black Berkey versions cost $367 for the Big Berkey and $408 for the Royal Berkey. - Travel, Imperial and Crown sizes are expected to follow as the manufacturer releases them. - The company’s announcement includes prices, a side-by-side comparison and lab results in the full announcement.

Between the lines: - The launch appears aimed at preserving Berkey’s core product while lowering the entry price and emphasizing NSF listed filters. - The company is also signaling continuity for existing buyers by keeping the stainless steel system unchanged. - BigBerkeyWaterFilters.com is positioning authorized sales as a defense against counterfeit systems sold on third-party marketplaces.

What's next: - More Berkey sizes are expected to roll out after the manufacturer releases them. - The company says Black Berkey inventory will remain available only while limited supplies last. - Buyers looking for warranty coverage are being directed to the authorized dealer’s own website. - BigBerkeyWaterFilters.com says every system sold includes a lifetime warranty on the stainless steel system and hardware, plus free shipping on orders over $99.

The bottom line: - Berkey is shifting to a cheaper, NSF listed filter option without changing the stainless steel system customers already know.
