Oct. 15 Deadline for Individual Income Tax Extension

AZTaxes will be offline Oct. 9-12 for scheduled maintenance

Phoenix, AZ—Taxpayers who requested an individual income filing extension must submit their returns by Thursday, October 15. We advise taxpayers who still need to file, to make a plan to do so immediately as the Arizona Department of Revenue’s (ADOR) online portal, AZTaxes.gov, will be unavailable starting Friday, October 9 at noon through Monday, October 12 while it is undergoing system maintenance. AZTaxes will be back online Tuesday, October 13 for online payments.

Filing tax returns and making electronic payments through authorized software providers will remain available without disruption during the planned system maintenance. Any submissions sent during this period will be marked as timely based on the original submission date.

Avoid errors and delays by filing right away.

Carefully review the return to verify that all necessary details are included. Ensure the complete Social Security number or Employer Identification Number is provided, and paper filers should remember to check box 82F.

Opting for e-file is the smartest option.

Electronic filing is faster, simpler, more secure, and highly efficient. Beyond reducing paper usage, it significantly accelerates processing time. Approximately 91% of Arizona individual returns were submitted electronically, with refunds from e-filed returns usually processed within 4 business days. Individual tax payments can also be made through AZTaxes.gov without requiring user registration. Please note the upcoming system outage.

Beat the final deadline.

An extension was granted to roughly 256,746 individual filers and 218,351 corporate entities for the 2025 tax year.
